Although John Jancek serves as co-defensive coordinator with Tim Banks, his primary job during practices is to coach the UC linebackers. Bearcat Lair spoke to the former Georgia assistant coach after Monday's practice to get his take on the progress of this unit.

It's not unusual for the defense to be ahead of the offense in spring. That hasn't always been the case here, but perhaps Bearcat fans should take it as a good sign that a defense that was readily scored upon last year has apparently stepped up it's game.
